Investigation of actual condition of contaminated soil in regulation pond conducted by underwater radiation measuring instrument installed in remotely-operated vehicle (2nd field test i Fukushima)

Ishiyama, Shintaro; Yamaguchi, Katsuhiko*

Nihon Kikai Gakkai Rombunshu, C, 79(799), p.718 - 725, 2013/03

Prototype remotely operated vehicle equipped with high resolution TV monitor and underwater radiation measuring instrument was developed and actual condition of contaminated soil in the regulation pond in Fukushima was investigated. Remarkable contaminated point was observed beneath rainwater outfall of impounding reservoir (Length $$times$$ Width $$times$$ Depth, 112m $$times$$ 30m $$times$$ 3.5m) in the order of 3.3 to 5.24 $$mu$$Sv/h. It is found that contaminated small particles in the order of 1 to 3mm are deposited in the polluted mud at the bottom of the reservoir and suspended by disturbance of water flow and the contaminated zones in the order of 0.75 to 3.5 $$mu$$Sv/h are distributed in a patchy fashion caused by confluent of outfall in the demarcated region (10m $$times$$ 10m $$times$$ 10m).

Three dimensional seismic isolation devices have been developed for the base isolation system of the Fast Breeder Reactor that is an advanced nuclear power buildings. The developed seismic isolation system consists of the hydraulic type vertical springs with rocking suppression mechanism and the laminated rubber bearings for horizontal direction. In this paper, it is reported the frictional characteristics on high hydraulic pressure condition from the experiments on the 1/2 size of real device and the results of the seismic simulation on the real size building with isolation-device that has those characteristics.

Control of balloon internal pressure for ileus tube using a syringe

Seki, Takeshi; Naganawa, Akihiro*; Oka, Kiyoshi; Ishikawa, Shinji*; Yoshino, Junji*

Nihon Kikai Gakkai Rombunshu, C, 76(766), p.1645 - 1647, 2010/06

Recently, by development of double balloon and capsule endoscopes, small intestinal whole area observation was enabled. However, it is difficult to use these endoscopes in patients with intestinal obstruction and adhesion. We developed a new endoscope that can be used in patients with intestinal obstruction and adhesion; this instrument consists of an ileus tube and an optical fiberscope (diameter, 1.1 mm). The complete observation of small intestinal is to be planned by controlling internal pressure of balloon in ileus tube, and pulling the tube out at constant speed. In our previous study, we have developed an internal pressure control device which consists of a balloon of ileus and an industrial cylinder, and we confirmed the utility. In this study, we developed a new control device combined with a general medical syringe, which enables to be sterilized easily and also to give less anxiety to patients. As the results of performance experiment of the device, the control accuracy was within $$pm$$0.5% error. Furthermore, in a disturbance response, the pressure fluctuation was limited down to 12%, compared with a case without any control.

Development of an instrument system for measuring the internal pressure of the small intestine using an ileus tube

Instruments for measuring the internal pressure of digestive organs are used for diagnosing functional diseases, judging how critical the condition is, and deciding the treatment method or determining the degree of alleviation. However, the technique wherein the internal pressure of the small intestine is measured is highly invasive and painful for patients, and the insertion of the catheter via transducers is not preferred because it involves the insertion of an electric instrument in the body. In this study, we developed a system that measures the pressure of the small intestine with an ileus tube, which is generally used for the treatment of ileus. The main feature of our system is that can be used to measure internal pressure without the insertion of electric instruments such as transducers into the body, allowing the assessment of ileus without causing pain to the patient being treated. In this note, we present a brief description of the structure and function of this instrument used to measure the internal pressure of the small intestine.

Proposal of simplified model for improved prediction of bending mode vibration of stepped rotor

Takada, Shoji; Funatake, Yoshio; Inagaki, Yoshiyuki

Nihon Kikai Gakkai Rombunshu, C, 75(752), p.824 - 829, 2009/04

The design of gas turbine high temperature gas cooled Reactor with a power output of 300 MWe employed magnetic bearings for supporting gas turbine rotor composed of turbo-compressor and generator rotors, which are connected by a flexible coupling each other. The generator rotor is a flexible rotor, which passes over the forth critical speed below the rated speed. The total length, mass and rated speed of the rotor is 18 m, 67 t and 3600 rpm, respectively. A simplified rotor-dynamics model was proposed based on Timoschenko beam model by adding a rotational spring which simulated deformation of plane at stepped parts of rotor. The model predicted adequately the bearing stiffness dependency on vibration mode of rotor at critical speeds in comparison with those 3D FEM analysis, as well as the increase of inclination at the center of rotor where mass was concentrated because bending stiffness, which affects whirling motion by Jayro effect at the forth critical speed.
